Responsible Tourism [#01] - what should a tourist have in their backpack?
A true tourist is always prepared for any possibility. It doesn't matter whether we spend the day by the seaside, wander through the streets of a new city, or hike in the mountains. There are certain things we should always have in our backpack or bag.
Water and snacks
Although nowadays we can find bars and shops practically everywhere, while exploring Poland, we can always get lost in the woods or mountains. Such a small adventure can even be enjoyable, provided the weather is nice, we have a phone in our pocket, and a bottle of water and a snack in our backpack. This could be a bar, crackers – anything that will sustain us until the first bar we encounter.
Rain jacket or coat
Weather in Poland can be unpredictable, especially in the north and south. Even in summer, or perhaps especially then, we may encounter unexpected rain or a storm. While we are not made of sugar, no one likes to get wet. With a raincoat, this is not a problem for us. Nowadays, you can buy jackets that can fit even in a small bag, so they won't take up much space.
Power bank
The truth is that if we have a phone with us, we can handle almost any situation. We can always call a taxi, check a map, look up the weather, or find advice for a given situation. The only problem is that the phone may run out of battery after a whole day of taking holiday photos. This is where technology comes to the rescue – a power bank. A portable source of energy will always save our skin.
The rest of the "essentials" depends on how we spend our holidays. If we are in Masuria or in the mountains, mosquito spray will be essential – no one enjoys a holiday with bites. Time spent by the sea, on the other hand, requires UV filter to protect us from the sun's rays.
