Numerous sources indicate that right here in Piątek lies the geometric centre of Poland. The village is located in the Łódź Voivodeship, on the route between Łęczyca and Łowicz. The geometric measurement method creates a quadrilateral based on the most extreme points of Poland, which are:
- the easternmost point of Poland - the bend of the Bug River,
- the northernmost point of Poland - the area around Jastrzębia Góra,
- the westernmost point of Poland - the bend of the Oder near Cedynia,
- the southernmost point of Poland - the summit of Opołonek in the Bieszczady Mountains.
These points are described on a signpost in the market square in Piątek. Next to it stands a symbolic monument - "The Geometric Centre of Poland." Interestingly, there are also other measurement methods, such as the geodetic method, which identifies the centre of Poland near Kutno. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that the centre of Poland is located in the Łódź Voivodeship.
The location of Piątek in relation to nearby places:
- Łowicz - 42 kilometres,
- Łęczyca - 19 kilometres,
- Łódź - 41 kilometres.
