Slotwiny Arena and Slotwiński Park – the most interesting attractions of Slotwiny in Krynica-Zdrój
Krynica-Zdrój is one of the most popular spa resorts in Poland, but not everyone knows that on its outskirts lies a charming and very attractive tourist district – Słotwiny. Here, you can find the beautiful Słotwiński Park, as well as a winter sports and cycling complex with a viewing tower. It is one of those places where almost everyone can find something for themselves.
Słotwiński Park in Krynica-Zdrój – the green heart of Słotwiny
Silence, peace, away from the hustle and bustle of the spa and the paved promenade. Słotwiński Park isn't large, but it is spacious enough to accommodate walking paths among the trees, a public salt graduation tower, and a mineral water spring. This is also where the Słotwinka spring flows – one of the flagship healing waters of the Krynica spa (Słotwinka is also available at the Main Spring in the centre of the spa. The spring in Słotwiny is small and very intimate). Of course, there are also well-kept flowerbeds and numerous benches where you can sit and enjoy the local nature accompanied by the sound of the Kryniczanka stream running alongside the park.
It is worth adding that Słotwiny are close enough to the centre of Krynica-Zdrój that if you choose them as your accommodation, you can easily enjoy the charms and attractions of the spa as well. The Słotwiński Park and the Main Spring in Krynica are less than 2 km apart. Importantly, the park is not the only attraction in Słotwiny.
Słotwiny Arena in Krynica-Zdrój – skiing, cycling, salt graduation tower, viewing tower, and treetop walk
A great treat all year round is also the large Słotwiny complex, where tourists can find cycling paths, ski lifts, and ski slopes, as well as a viewing tower, which is accessed by a treetop path. A chairlift operates to the top, so even fans of a lazy holiday should be satisfied, particularly since right next to the lift station is a fairly large salt graduation tower with hammocks and sun loungers where you can relax to your heart’s content.
I must emphasize that the treetop path and the viewing tower are literally accessible to everyone, as to reach the top of the tower with breathtaking views of the surroundings, one walks on a path so gently sloped that you hardly feel you’re going uphill (the height reached is almost 50 m). This means parents with small children, as well as those in wheelchairs, can easily navigate it. The path measures about 1 km, and younger visitors will also find numerous educational stops along the way. That’s not all, because you can slide down a 60-metre slide from the top of the path.
Słotwiny – an alternative to Krynica
Some complain that Krynica gets too crowded during the season. The tranquil Słotwiny are a perfect alternative, especially since the attractions of the spa remain within easy reach.
