15K Run

For work, university or meeting friends – every day, many people use tram number 15, connecting the centre of Katowice with Sosnowiec. On this renowned route, on 7th September, the fifth edition of the run "15tka from Katowice to Sosnowiec" will take place. At the finish line, near Galeria Katowicka, free additional attractions will be available.
There are many myths, stereotypes, and jokes about the Silesian-Dąbrowa relationships. Jokes about passports and the air that needs to be chewed or other minor jabs are a specific form of humour understood by the residents of the region. Fortunately, these are just jokes. The distance between the centre of Katowice and Sosnowiec is just under 12 km. On this route, the famous tram number 15 runs, used daily by residents from both sides of the Brynica river. On Saturday, 7th September, participants will run this iconic distance. They will cover 15 km, starting at 14:00 from the Sielecki Park in Sosnowiec and finishing at the square by Galeria Katowicka.
The "15tka from Katowice to Sosnowiec" run is open to all. To participate, one must fill out the registration form available on the event's website and pay the registration fee (by 31st August). Participants will be able to pick up their start packs on the day of the event, from 9:00 to 13:00, at the Race Office on level 0 near RTV Euro AGD in Galeria Katowicka. From the Gallery, the organisers will transport the runners to the start in Sosnowiec using tram number 15. Each participant will receive an individual pack that traditionally includes a technical shirt, a timing chip, vouchers for snacks and drinks. A medal will be awarded to every participant who completes the route in no longer than 135 minutes. Competitors will be classified by age – women in 4 categories and men in 5. Along the course of the run, at the border of Sosnowiec and Katowice, participants may be asked to show a symbolic passport, which they can collect from the Passport Office of the run (on level 0 near RTV Euro AGD) from 4th September.
During the event, from 9:00 to 16:30, there will be accompanying events at Galeria Katowicka and in the square in front of it. In the Perfect Body Center tent, free body composition analysis and foot biomechanics testing will be available. A cryo chamber will also be set up in front of Galeria Katowicka, where participants can try to alleviate muscle pain by lowering skin temperature for free.
