Marathons Orienteering - PMnO - what is it all ABOUT? #1
Orientational Marathons - PMnO - are tourism and sports competitions held almost every week, typically on weekends in various interesting locations across Poland. The marathons are usually held over distances of 50 km and 100 km on foot within specific time limits. Competitions often also include bike racing. A characteristic feature of Orientational Marathons is the map that participants use to navigate. The map is generally at a scale of 1:50,000, tourist-oriented, sometimes incomplete or slightly modified. The task for the participating contestants is to confirm the checkpoints marked on the map, either on the provided starting card or using a chip to identify the Control Points set in the field.
This is an incredibly fascinating discipline, allowing discovery of interesting places in Poland and meeting friendly people. Orientational Marathons are a great idea for a weekend and a way to spend it. The competitions in the Orientational Marathons are held as part of the PMnO Marathon Cup series - for more information, visit the Cup's website at www.pmno.pl. There are also competitions that do not fall under the Cup.
We will inform you about upcoming competitions in the PMnO Marathon Cup series on our website in the "Events" section. We invite you to follow and participate!
