Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Zakrzów Turawski
The 258-year-old Church of Saints Apostles Peter and Paul in Zakrzów Turawski - a tiny, wooden, beautifully preserved temple stands at the north-western end of the village of Zakrzów Turawski, on the trail of wooden sacral architecture of Opole Silesia. It was built in 1759 by the carpenter Florian Kowalczyk from Jełowa, and the structure is made from wooden beams, featuring two towers – a larger and a smaller one, topped with bulbous domes covered with shingles. The walls are also covered with shingles. Inside, we will see a Baroque-Classical altar, a Gothic statue of the Virgin Mary with Child from the 14th century, 19th-century paintings, and interesting polychromes on the ceiling made on leather, as well as a Baroque font from the 18th century.
