Roztoczanski National Park
Roztocze National Park - 1 of 23 national parks in Poland and one of two in the Lublin Voivodeship. Established on 10 May 1974. The total area is 8,500 ha, with strict protection covering 805 ha. The symbol of the park is the Polish horse, with its seat in Zwierzyniec.
The park encompasses the Zwierzyniec forests. Among the wooded hills and lush meadows, the picturesque Wieprz River meanders. The park features almost all types of forest habitats— the most valuable being the fir forest and Carpathian beech forest, which are characteristic of the lower montane zone of the Carpathians.
The fauna of the park is equally rich. Here you can find deer, lynxes, wolves, marsh turtles, black storks, and corncrakes. In 1982, Polish horses, descendants of wild forest horses—tarpans, were brought here. The Polish horses are mostly concentrated around the Echo Ponds, which are part of the park.
The park offers visitors attractive hiking and cycling trails, as well as educational paths and nature tourism routes. It is an extremely interesting place in Poland and an incredibly important tourist attraction.
