Stilo Lighthouse
The Stilo Lighthouse – a lighthouse on the Baltic Sea coast, one of fifteen in Poland. Located 5 kilometres from the village of Osetnik, formerly Stilo, in the Choczewo municipality. The lighthouse was built between 1904 and 1906 and is situated on the top of a dune, approximately 1000 metres from the sea. The structure stands on a hexagonal foundation and its body is made of cast iron elements, joined by bolts. At the top of the lighthouse, there are two observation galleries. Next to the tower stands the lighthouse keeper's house.
Height of the lighthouse: 33 m.
Height of the light: 75 m above sea level.
Range of the light: 23.5 nautical miles.
In 2006, renovations were carried out, along with a thorough repainting in three colours characteristic of Stilo. An interesting fact is the remains of the former nauto-phone, located a few hundred metres from the lighthouse. It was a navigation device, known as the fog horn, used for emitting sound signals during fog. Its sound can be heard from a distance of up to 20 km. The lighthouse appears in the coat of arms of the Choczewo municipality.
