Szczawnica
Szczawnica is a spa town located in the Pieniny Mountains by the Grajcarek stream, which is a tributary of the Dunajec River. Thanks to its location in the heart of the Pieniny, there is a vast network of tourist trails here. From here, one can embark on a journey to the Three Crowns via Sokolica, towards the Red Monastery, or to the village of Jaworki in the direction of the Homole Gorge. Szczawnica, like most towns in the Lesser Poland region, is an incredibly interesting place in Poland and offers a rich selection of opportunities for active leisure pursuits. The mountains, covered in forests with diverse flora and fauna, attract hiking enthusiasts. Numerous hiking trails lead to the highest peaks of the Pieniny and Gorce ranges, as well as to nature reserves: the Homole Gorge, Wysokie Skały, and one of the most charming reserves filled with picturesque rock formations and rapids, creating gorges and waterfalls - the Biała Woda reserve. In the very centre of Szczawnica, one can take advantage of the chairlift that leads to Palenica, from where a magnificent panorama of the Tatras, Pieniny, Beskid Sądecki, and the whole of Szczawnica unfolds. Nearby, on the adjacent Szafranówka, a nearly seven-hundred-metre-long gravity slide has been built, attractive for both children and adults. Culture and music enthusiasts can look forward to a variety of events and visit the Muzyczna Owczarnia, where music stars perform. For over 200 years, Szczawnica has functioned as a health resort, attracting tourists and spa guests. Its name comes from the mineral waters - sodium, iodine, bicarbonate, and others. Therefore, it is no surprise that despite Szczawnica having around 6,000 residents, it is visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.
