Mountain Trails [#43] - Niski Wierch
Niski Wierch
Bukowina Tatrzańska, a village in the heart of the Polish Tatra Mountains, is known not only for its charm, but also for its countless tourism opportunities. One of the destinations for hiking trips is the Niski Wierch massif, which rises to a height of 983 m above sea level. This is an ideal place for mountain hiking enthusiasts, offering both beautiful landscapes and unforgettable views of the surrounding area.
The route leading to Niski Wierch is 7 km long and takes approximately 2 hours of walking. It is a relatively easy route, accessible to most tourists, making it an ideal place to begin your mountain adventure. However, despite its ease, there is no shortage of stunning views and opportunities for close contact with nature. The trail begins in Bukowina Tatrzańska, near the roundabout in the centre of the village. At first, it follows an asphalt road, then after a few minutes turns left near the "Rysy" holiday home. Here, the character of the route changes and it leads us onto a hardened path. Then, at the next fork, we choose the direction to the left and continue walking downhill. This is the moment when we begin to discover the charms of Niski Wierch. As the trail runs through areas of forests and meadows, we have the opportunity to admire breathtaking panoramas of the Tatra Mountains. These views take your breath away and leave unforgettable impressions. Then, after about 20 minutes of walking along the ridge, the route begins to descend. At the following junctions, we must carefully choose the path leading us downhill. When we reach the stream, we are only a few minutes away from entering Wierch Przedomianski. This magical place is unique thanks to its characteristic pine tree, which serves as a distinctive landmark of the area. Here, we turn left. We walk through the "Spalenisko" forest until we reach Bukowina Tatrzańska.
The trail to Niski Wierch is also an excellent route for cyclists. It has short but steep descents and climbs that attract mountain biking enthusiasts. However, you need to be careful, because recently this route has become popular with quad-bike riders, motocross riders and off-road vehicle drivers. Unfortunately, their presence may negatively affect the condition of the route and pose a danger to hikers.
Niski Wierch in Bukowina Tatrzańska is an excellent destination for anyone wishing to spend time outdoors and enjoy the charms of the mountains. Whether you are a hiking enthusiast or a mountain biker, this route will meet your expectations. Walking along this trail, you will experience unforgettable moments in the heart of Podhale.
