Polish Travel [#04] - 7 ideas for rainy days in Zakopane
7 ideas for rainy days in Zakopane
Even if the weather forecast isn't optimistic, we don't necessarily have to postpone our trip to Zakopane. There are many ideas for interesting activities in this place. A trip, even in spite of rainy days, can be very successful. Interesting places in Poland have that charm that delights regardless of the weather.
1. A walk on the trail? Why not!
When it rains, it's still worth considering the possibility of walking on the trails. If we really enjoy hiking, only a strong wind, a storm, or snow could stop us. We don't see rain or low temperatures as excuses. Of course, in worse weather, there aren't such impressive views, and we need to be more careful, but this makes the walk more intense. During the rain, charming mountain streams appear, and the leaves look even more beautiful.
However, it's important to prepare properly for the trip. Remember to pack clothes for all types of weather, including rain. We must equip ourselves with good shoes to avoid slipping on wet rocks. It doesn't matter if the shoes are branded; what matters is that they are sturdy. Of course, we can't forget about comfortable waterproof shoes. In poor weather, it's easier to get lost and miss signs. So let's be cautious and stick to marked trails. Also, avoid hiking alone; during such weather, there aren't many tourists, and if in doubt, we won't have anyone to ask for directions.
We should also remember to have the right equipment. Comfort and convenience are important, but so are health and safety. Finally, let's install the extremely useful app RATUNEK. With it, we can be easily located, and help can be summoned quickly.
2. Water fun
If we're already tired from hiking, we can think about splashing around in the aqua park. We can enjoy the slides, swim, and also relax wonderfully using the fantastic water jets and jacuzzis. There are attractions for children as well. In the vicinity of Zakopane, we also find amazing thermal pools, such as Chochołowskie Termy, Termy Szuflary, Termy BUKOVINA, and Termy Bania – all of which provide a particularly interesting tourist attraction.
3. Destination Slovakia
Even if the weather in Zakopane is bad, it doesn't mean that it's the same in other places. It could be nice in Slovakia. A good idea might be a trip to that area. And if it's raining there too, we can always visit Tatralandia, which is a fantastic amusement park. We can enjoy numerous water slides, thermal pools, and other various attractions.
4. Board games and other activities
In our free time, while we wait for nice weather, we can choose one of the board games, especially if we are going in a group. It can be a great way to kill time. It's also an excellent opportunity to recharge for further adventures. We already know that rain is not an obstacle!
5. Visiting museums
Let's not forget about museums. It would be worth visiting the Sabała Cottage, the Karol Szymanowski Museum, the Jan Kasprowicz Museum, and the Tatra Museum. If we are culture lovers, we can also go to the cinema, an art gallery, or a theatre. Tourism has many faces!
6. A culinary journey
Rain is a great opportunity to visit one of Zakopane's restaurants. There, we can taste delicious regional specialties that are hard to find anywhere else.
7. Excitement at Monkey Grove
If we have small children, we can go to an amusement park and wait out the rainy weather. For instance, we could visit the Monkey Grove playground. Our little ones can really let loose there. There are three safe, attractive, and colourful playrooms.
