Skiing in Poland - why it's worth choosing Polish slopes?
Skiing in Poland is a great choice for those who want to combine winter fun with a short commute and a homely, mountain atmosphere. There are plenty of slopes, the infrastructure gets better each year, and by choosing certain hotels, you can expect ski passes included in the price and modern amenities.
Skiing in the Tatra Mountains – Zakopane, Białka Tatrzańska and surrounding areas
The Tatra Mountains are classic. In the Zakopane area, you will find, among others, Kasprowy Wierch, Gubałówka, Nosal and Polana Szymoszkowa. Nearby, there are popular resorts in Białka Tatrzańska and Bukowina Tatrzańska – with extensive infrastructure, thermal baths, and slopes of varying difficulty. This is a good choice if you want to combine skiing with a mountain atmosphere, an evening stroll along Krupówki, or a dip in thermal pools after a day of skiing.
Skiing in the Beskidy Mountains – Szczyrk, Wisła and Korbielów
The Beskidy offer gentler mountains and a quite interesting ski offer. In Szczyrk, the comprehensive network of slopes and lifts at the Szczyrk Mountain Resort operates. In Wisła, there are centers such as Soszów, Cieńków, Nowa Osada, and Skolnity, while in Ustroń – Czantoria and Poniwiec Mała Czantoria have slopes ideal for learning and gentle descents. It's also worth remembering Korbielów with the Pilsko massif, which is a good place for those looking for longer descents in a more intimate setting.
Skiing in the Karkonosze and Sudetes – Karpacz, Szklarska Poręba, Zieleniec, Czarna Góra
The Karkonosze Mountains are classic for skiing trips in Lower Silesia. In Karpacz, the Karpacz Ski Arena (Kopa) mainly operates, while SkiArena Szrenica dominates Szklarska Poręba with several slopes of varying difficulty and smaller training lifts perfect for learning how to ski.
Looking more broadly at the Sudetes, it's worth mentioning two large resorts that can easily compete with the best-known stations in the country. Zieleniec Ski Arena offers an extensive network of lifts and slopes and is often praised for its specific microclimate that supports good snow conditions. Additionally, Czarna Góra Resort in the Śnieżnik massif attracts visitors with modern infrastructure and diverse slopes suitable for both families and more advanced skiers.
Where to ski in Poland?
One could actually say – anywhere south of the country. The higher the mountain ranges, the greater the chance for good skiing conditions, so it should not be surprising that most snow enthusiasts choose the Tatra Mountains, although more and more are opting for skiing in Szczyrk and Zieleniec as well. Therefore, we wish: plenty of snow!
