Mountain Trails [#27] - Roztoka
Roztoka, one of the most beautiful mountain huts in the Tatras, located near the trail leading to the Morskie Oko lake. It only takes a moment spent there to leave your heart forever between its wooden walls. Tourists associate it with a true mountain atmosphere, but also with home.
How to get there?
Our starting point is the parking lot at Palenica Białczańska, from where we have about a 40-minute walk ahead of us. We take the exact same path that leads to Morskie Oko, but just past the Mickiewicz Waterfalls, we turn left onto the green trail, which will lead us down to the hut.
Where can we set off from Roztoka?
The most popular option is a walk to Morskie Oko, which we will reach by first following the green trail to the Mickiewicz Waterfalls, and then the red trail. The ascent should take us about 2 hours. Another option is an expedition to the Valley of Five Polish Ponds, which we will start by taking the green trail until we reach the valley. This expedition is more demanding, covering a stretch of about 5 km where we have to overcome more than 700 m of ascent.
What does the hut offer?
The first and most important thing – accommodation. The hut offers rooms for 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 9 people. Guests also have access to a common room, a tourist kitchen, a drying room, and a buffet. It is advisable to book accommodation well in advance.
The kitchen in Roztoka
If you enjoy traditional food, you must come here, if only for that. Roztoka is famous for its amazing cuisine. Delicious dumplings, hearty soups, and an absolute must-try – warm Roztoka apple pie served with ice cream, whipped cream, vanilla sauce, and lingonberries. Yum!
