Winter break in Subcarpathia - a wealth of attractions
What tourist attractions are worth visiting in the Podkarpacie region during the winter holidays? This is a question frequently asked by those planning a holiday in this interesting part of the country. There’s nothing surprising about this, as many people are unaware of the numerous fascinating places located in this region. For this reason, we decided to take a closer look at the intriguing sites worth visiting while in Podkarpacie.
Tourist trails in the Bieszczady Mountains
One of the most interesting tourist attractions in Podkarpacie is the beautiful hiking trails winding through the picturesque landscapes of the Bieszczady Mountains. Equally important, many of these trails can be easily accessed with children and teenagers. Among the most popular is the trail leading to a wonderful spring in Zwierzyń, starting at Myczkowce. The trail is approximately 4.5 kilometres long both ways.
Another interesting hiking route is the one leading to a site of worship in Łopienka. Here, the trail begins at a parking lot between the villages of Polanki and Buk. Its length both ways is about 4.9 kilometres. However, it’s essential to remember that these are just two examples of relatively simple and non-demanding trails. It is advisable to prepare adequately beforehand. Winter boots and clothing, as well as a charged mobile phone, are currently the bare minimum before deciding on any winter hiking trip in the Bieszczady region.
Something for the less active
And what if, for various reasons, we cannot take the children on a hiking trail? Not to worry, as Podkarpacie also offers a range of different attractions that can be enjoyed during the winter holidays. These include, among others, beautiful palaces and castles.
A prime example is the castle located in Łańcut. It is a stunning magnate residence built by Stanisław Stadnicki, known as the Devil of Łańcut. It later passed into the hands of the Potocki family, who expanded and further beautified it. As a result, this castle has become a present-day symbol of the beauty of bygone times. Another interesting attraction of a similar nature could be Rzeszów. On one hand, it is rich in various historical monuments, including an old town where many richly decorated bourgeois houses can be seen.
On the other hand, Rzeszów is home to a museum of animated characters. This is an ideal place for both children and adults. Children can come face-to-face with their favourite characters they watch daily, while parents can easily reminisce about their own childhood. Furthermore, this is an excellent way to foster mutual integration. For these very reasons, this museum is gaining increasing popularity. Consequently, it is often a must-visit alongside the old town during various family trips, and not just that.
Summary
Deciding to visit Podkarpacie during the winter holidays with a child can be a proverbial bullseye if we wish to spend quality time together and see a variety of interesting places. Especially since reaching many of them, even with a small child, often poses no major issues, even for those who rarely prefer hiking. For these very reasons, Podkarpacie is becoming increasingly popular during the winter holidays year after year.
