Słowiński National Park
Słowiński National Park - the famous "Polish Sahara," is located in the central part of the Polish coastline, in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The fascinating shifting sands, which include nearly 40-meter-high dunes (Łączka - the highest dune, 42 m above sea level), move at a speed of up to 15 meters per year, making it a natural phenomenon. Local attractions worthy of note:
The Nature Museum of Słowiński National Park in Smołdzino,
The Słowińska Village Museum in Kluki,
The Czołpino Lighthouse,
Rowokół Hill with a height of 115 m (the highest elevation with an observation tower and a nature trail),
A German military training ground from World War II.
The park was established in 1967 and currently covers an area of 327 km². The shifting dunes can be reached on foot (about 6 km from the parking lot in Rąbka). The route is beautiful, offering scenic views both through the forest path and along the beach.
