Ursprung Castle
Krzyżtopór Castle - is located amidst the fields of the Opatów land. Its strong destruction only enhances the sense of charm and mystery. The intention behind its establishment in the first half of the 17th century was to overshadow all the castles and palaces in Poland with its allure. Its construction combines the functions of a defensive castle with that of a palace, making it so unique.
It was designed based on a calendar:
- 1 palace - year
- 4 towers - quarters
- 12 ceremonial halls - months
- 52 chambers - weeks
- 365 windows - days.
Many legends circulate about the estate, for example:
- Horses in the stables admired themselves in crystal mirrors and ate from marble troughs.
- The ceiling of the beautiful octagonal tower was glazed to view an aquarium with exotic fish above it.
- For its construction, 11 thousand tons of local quartzite sandstone, 300 m3 of Kunów sandstone, 30 thousand roof tiles, 200 thousand bricks, 500 tons of lime, 5 thousand m3 of sand, as well as marbles, alabasters, and exotic wood were used.
- To obtain waterproof mortar, it is said that egg whites from a million chicken eggs were added to the lime.
In 1655, most of the possessions and valuable items were taken away by the Swedes, and 100 years later, the place was just a beautiful and uninhabited ruin.
Currently, 5 tourist routes have been designated for visiting the castle:
