Brother Albert's Hermitage in Kalatówki
The Hermitage of Brother Albert at Kalatówki - a wooden cottage located in an incredibly picturesque spot within the grounds of the current Albertine Monastery. The hermitage was established in 1901 and still consists of a small wooden hut with two rooms, an attic, and an entrance hall. One room used to serve as an auxiliary room for the priests who held Mass in the Chapel of the Albertines, while the other was Brother Albert's cell. Among those who chose this hermitage as a place of reflection were Stanisław Witkiewicz, Stefan Żeromski, and Józef Conrad Korzeniowski, and in 1997, it was visited by John Paul II.
The hermitage is located on the blue trail from Kuźnice to the Kondratowa Hut. Kuźnice is less than a kilometre away from here, and you can also take a short walk to the monastery by turning off onto the yellow trail. It is an extraordinary place set against the backdrop of the Tatra landscape.
