Morskie Oko
Morskie Oko - the largest lake in the Tatras, located in the Fish Stream Valley at an altitude of 1,395 m above sea level, has an area of approximately 35 ha, a length of 860 m, a width of 560 m, and at its deepest point is 50 m deep. On the moraine to the north of the lake stands the PTTK mountain lodge, which is one of the oldest and most beautiful mountain shelters in the Tatras. It serves as a starting point for trips to Rysy, the Szpiglasowa Pass, and the Mięguszowiecka Pass under Chłopek. There is a 9-kilometre asphalt road from Palenica leading to the lodge, making this place easily accessible for many tourists; however, one must walk it, which influences the intensity of tourist traffic.
The beautiful views of the peaks of the High Tatras, including the highest peak in Poland - Rysy, the lake situated among forests and towering rocks, and the mountain shelter where one can sit, eat something, and rest while enjoying the surrounding nature - all contribute to Morskie Oko being the most popular place in the Tatras.
